Level 19 mage and battlegrounds or just pvp in general.
Well you will have 10 talent points to spend.. and no I'm not going to ask you to choose the red pill or blue pill or maybe I should as this is a similar type of deal.
Blue pill= Frost
Red pill= Fire
so do you choose red or blue? Take the Blue pill and you go on living your life in a cold and cruel world or take the Red pill and open up the gates of a fiery hot hell?
Okay so I think we can all agree that the first step is to choose fire or frost.
Frost allows you to slow your enemies movement by 40% for 5 sec. This allows you to rip a tank apart by keeping him at a distance. I will talk about kiting first then talents.
Open up on anyone that is melee by either choosing Frostbolt rank 3 or rank 1. "Rank1?" Yep rank 1 is good when you have been spotted and only have that 1.5 secs to cast, you still will slow them down. Then you can open up your raw power of the elements on them. Rank 3 should be used like a sniper shot when the enemy does not see you.
So you cast your Frostbolt and the enemy is slown by 40% to catch you, you want to cast a fire bolt at this time to hit them hard. As they draw almost within melee range you cast fireblast rank 2 and then frostnova, this will allow you to move fast to a further location only to cast again frostbolt rank 1 as you have limited time before your frostnova breaks and they are charging at you with the look of death upon their face. Boom it hits right as the trap breaks and they are again moving at 40% speed. Again Firebolt and then fire blast.. they should be dead by now, but if not you should be able to arcane explosion them once or twice to deal the final blow. Also a quick side not, you may want to cast Flamestrike right before you open up you can of whoop arse, this will allow you to pop a rogue out of stealth fast enough for either another teammate to pick them up or to frost nova them and start you cycles of of elemental death upon them.
So if you go frost i would say spend:
5-improved frost bolt- casting time reduced making that rank 1 alot faster to cast and keep someone in a slowd state for a while.
3-frost bite- 15% chance to freeze target in place for 5 secs.why not have a free mini frost nova snare them.
2- improved forst nova- reduced cool down on a snare is always good to have .
Fire is the same spell cast as before but points wise:
5-improved Firebolt. will help in over all cast time to get that extra frostbolt off to keep them slown down.
Now the other 5 points are your choice on personal preference.
5-impact. this will give you a 15% chance to stun the target with a firespell, which in return you can get another one to two spells off on them.
Or
you can take:
2-Flame throwing, the extra distance is nice to pick off enemies that are not aware of your position and are nearing the end of their combat.(ninja kill??)
3-Improved fire blast. Having an instant attack with a shorter cooldown is great. It can save your Butt if you are down low on health and so is the enemy and you are able to get that last instant cast out and boom hes dead and your alive.
So those are the choices for points and how to get a good cast sequence going to kit someone.
Now the idea is to stay a little bit in the back so the enemy focuses on your other teammates, since you are a squishy you may just become a taurens dental floss or butt floss.
Polymorph when you and a teammate or just you have 1 to many enemies on you. This will ease the pain for the tank/melee'rs.
One last thing is remember you are a squishy and will be the target of choice for them since you die quick and you are considered a variable in this equation of battle. Now if the variable gets removed you will get the same results over and over again(without the variable) losing the BG.
Don't be upset if you do die alot and fast, You will have more kills overall so be proud of that.
Also the more stamina you have, the longer it takes to kill you.
I hope I covered everything for a level 19 pvp mage.

Awesome, thanks for the guide, I'm sure it will help a lot!
I like the guide ^^! Must say though, I wish fire was more PvP oriented. I may switch to frost though reading through this guide..
